Like many others, I came across this site by accident and it's great - TB and their successors were a good reason to visit endurance races in the 80's. I do indeed remember the 82 Le Mans and was standing in the main stand when Howard Lees pushed a very dead CB900 into the pits. The groan when it wouldn't fire up first push and then the cheer from the whole crowd when it got going and then when it came around again still sticks in my mind. Great stuff, to get a load of French on your side.

Having consulted my dog eared copy of June 82 Bike mag, Howard stalled the bike when he locked the back wheel braking into the hairpin and then had a 1.5 mile push back to the pits. The prize he got was the "Prix de l'Energie"

As for the question as to who won the 84 Le Mans, it was the Dutch Roadruner team of Dirk Brand, Henk Van Der Mark and another on a Nico Bakker framed GSX1100. An excellent race, memorable for fantastic weather!

Remember any more? Sure I do. We first met at the '82 Le Mans 24hr. You were in the next pit to us as Chef d'Equipe of the Linden/Kultalahti pairing on a bog-standard CB1100R. You guys finished 5th, five places ahead of us. Er, that's about it, but further info may follow when I've had a chance to examine Howard's press cuttings scrapbooks.

Yes, that's the picture I mean, but I do remember something technical happening and that you then won a marshals' prize for perseverance. I also remember Howard pushing the bike, from time to time actually running with it and this must have been the first Le Mans, '82. Anybody remembers anymore.
