I think of Howard quite often. Sometimes when I go flying, but more often when I see a Mercedes S-Class (the square shape one from the early nineties). Howard and I once drove one together at a Mercedes safety day at a test track in the midlands. They told us to enter a slalom course at a max speed of 60mph to show how agile and stable the Merc was. Lees thought that was too slow to properly demonstrate it so entered at 100mph. Of course we spun straight into a hedge. I didn't know Howard that well, but he was the sort of bloke I like spending time with. I once sat next to him at a Vauxhall launch and all he talked about was flying. A few days later he was killed. To those lucky enough to know him, Howard laid down a template of how to lead our lives which all of us should follow.

Someone has put an awful lot of work into this site! Whoever it was, Thanks! Brilliant memories, especially of the Bol d'Or and Le Mans 24 hour races. It was a privilege to be slightly involved with the Team as Editor of Bike 1978-83 (God, the hangovers!). Cheers!
